Hi-Fi Rush has you fight a giant QA testing robot who yells "IT'S TIME FOR TESTING LEVEL: ONE MILLION!" at the beginning.ĮDIT: Should also add that I don't doubt racial or misogynistic sentiment may factor into some of the reaction to Forspoken (again, haven't played it to judge the dialogue overall myself), but comparing these two games is apples and oranges. Frey seems like a Joss Whedon-esque character transplanted into an otherwise mostly serious fantasy world. I can't really comment on Forspoken beyond the little snippets I've seen shared on the internet (and judging a game's dialogue from picked out clips isn't fair), but it very much does not appear to be aiming for the same. Chai's entire thing is also that everyone initially finds him extremely annoying precisely because of how he talks and acts, and frequently express exasperation with him, lol. Step back in time and experience the gold rush. Hi-Fi Rush is specifically aiming for a corny-but-charming and cartoony tone where characters say things like "let's rock" and "radical" - the characters are all silly. ** As always, try to be respectful to one another when posting. Hi-Fi Rush is an excellent break from the norm for the horror buffs at Tango Gameworks, meshing the energetic combat of a character-action brawler with the t. No but seriously, I am wondering if Forspoken had been shadow dropped by square at a similar price point if that would have changed the reception of the game any? What is your opinion on this? But actually hearing it, I am proud and absolutely honored to announce that I am still way worse than her. Going into it, I expected her dialogue to be basically me in video game form (I am extremely cringey IRL). In particular, gamers were making note of her "cringe dialogue". The game was immediately shot down very harshly and seemingly held to higher standards. I must admit I am slightly confused as to why HiFi Rush can "get away with it" but Forspoken cannot. Very light-hearted, B-movie tier/summer blockbuster dialogue from the both of them. I can agree that the tone seems to be the same in delivery. Does the artstyle play any role in how dialogue is interpreted? (Not a joke question as I keep seeing this get brought up, so here we are). The elephant in the room: Do you feel there is another "angle" at play here? (Racial, misogynistic, etc). Are we even in agreement here that both games contain cheesy dialogue?.What makes the cheesy dialogue work in HiFi Rush vs Forspoken?.Some people are saying it's different because the dialogue is meant to be taken seriously in Forspoken, but in Hi-Fi Rush it isn't: View: Īfter sitting on this for a few days myself, I honestly think this is worth a discussion. People are talking about the direction and tone of the dialogue in both games: View: So I want to bring to your attention a few conversations that have been going on in the social media space regarding Forspoken, which released a few days ago and Hi Fi Rush, the current gaming darling.
